I read the statistics on imports of natural stone and artificial stone in the UK for the second quarter of 2022. And I am surprised. +/- total imports granite into the UK is 100 million Euros per year.

Even though natural stone is widely used in a variety of construction, architectural and design industries, the market capacity seems small. This begs the question, why is the market for natural stone so small?

Ceramics and engineered have a larger market, what is the reason, price or because the product is clearer than natural stone?

Natural stone is used in urban landscaping, road construction, cladding of buildings and structures, gravestones, interior solutions. In fact in all areas of construction, architecture and design, but why such a small market capacity? To take the UK as an example, these are rich countries with developed economies, but only 100 million euros worth of imports?

WHY? What are we doing wrong?
